I was looking for a replacement for the MS Wired Keyboard 600. IMHO this keyboard is one of the best, but I needed one with an ergonomic layout, so I tested 4 of them.
Microsoft OEM Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000
I was looking for a keyboard with flat keys, so this was not the right one. In addition, the space key is too huge and needs more power to push than the other keys.
The top keys (1, 2… to Backspace) are positioned quite strange. Even if it is ergonomic, this key row does is as wide as the bottom row. This seems not to be wrist gentle if you need the top keys often; they are hard to reach.
Comfort Curve Keyboard 3000
This one was better regarding the height of the keys, but as you see on the measurement photos, it is much wider. The risk is high to confuse e.g. Strg+C with Strg+X. The space key is OK.
Logitech Wireless Keyboard K350
High keys, so not really an option. Basically, the layout seems to fine, but the different height of the keys makes the usage for me quite uncomfortable.
Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business
Pros: You get used to the layout with no problems and the keys are very flat. The design is beautiful and well-conceived (e.g. magnets for some components instead of clips).
Some cons: Backspace key is also a bit out of reach, but acceptable; Return and cursor keys are hard to find for the first times, and the left Shift key is small. For the top keys, you have to move a switch before you can use e.g. volume keys instead of the Fx keys, which could be uncomfortable.
I decided to keep this one, even if I was not a fan of wireless keyboards, but in my opinion it was the one with the best compromise of an easy-to-use and wrist-friendly layout.
Update 2017-10
Although the new Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Keyboard is quite expensive, it is worth a try. Like all the other keyboards, it’s not perfect, but the best one at the moment in my opinion.
The wireless connection is done via Bluetooth (connecting works hassle-free), the numpad is included and in general, the layout got improved.[:]
