Problem:

You use Adobe Reader and a printer with the universal Xerox Global Print Driver, and want to print e.g. 2 copies of a one-page document – but you get 4 copies.

Solution:

Reset your Xerox and Adobe Reader settings, i.e. run regedit and delete the following entries: HKEY_Current_UserSoftwareXerox and HKEY_Current_UserSoftwareAdobeAcrobat Reader.

I also recommend to delete and re-install the printer.

Reboot your PC.

Print a PDF. When the dialog “Potential Printing Problems” appears, choose the last setting (“no changes”). Now it should work.

Note:

If you do not want to reset all your Xerox and Adobe settings, you can experiment with various settings described here and here. But in my case only the full reset helped.
